Nostalgic reading
I've been re-reading older X-men comic books - more specifically the Age of Apocalypse story arch from the 90s. It's still good, so very good. I adore the fact that one of Charles' fondest memories of his time with Erik (this is comicverse) takes place in Israel and he and Erik are involved in a bar brawl *g*. Trust me, there is so much love there, mutual respect and loyalty toward each other that it's almost painfuly.

It's also the story line with the warped time line - the one where Charles dies in Israel, never forming the X-men, though Erik promises him that he will carry on, that Charles' 'Any dream worth having is a dream worth fighting for,' will become his goal as well. He ends up leading a very different team of x-men in the war against Apocalypse. *adores this storyline*

I'd sorta forgotten how much I loved that version of Erik, of his absolute loyalty to Charles and Charles' memory - fighting for the dream on behalf of a dead friend. I so want to see an x-men first class AU based on that, but of course, I don't want to kill Charles off. But I'd forgotten how cool and disturbing the Apocalypse timeline was.
