Saturday night Musings
I seem to find other things to do when I should be editing *laughs*

Ah well - can't have it all, can we?

*does a little work on a Gravity Falls box for a xmas present*

*tidies the living room a little*

*makes a cup of coffee*

*eyes Warehouse 13/x-men fusion fic that should be edited*

*makes another cup of coffee and checks drying point of box*

So, how is everyone? Still here?

*ponders some writing exercises*

Edit what fic, you said?

GSD challenge update
Aye, it's going forward, I swear!

Well, I've got it planned out so that I know what I can get done in the week that's left. Originally I had two parts up at AO3 that were part of the warehouse 13 fusion, but I've disconnected the 2nd part as it won't fit in (so it will just have to be an alternate timeline to my AU *g*).

I should be able to get a prequel done that covers how Erik is dragged into the whole madness of the Warehouse. I think trying to get more than that done might be overdoing it ;) (I've got my last week of JavaScript course this week as well, so yeah).

It does not mean there won't be more *stares at 5 pages worth of brain storming*

I've got at least one part that will be a case in style with the show, probably and making use of the full team, hopefully, with some foreshadowing (this will all be pre-relationship). Then there's a part that will be more relationship focused (though still deal with the weirdness of the warehouse itself) - as well as delve deeper into what the warehouse IS. That part is roughly 2/3 of the brain storm! *sighs deeply* I can't seem to do simple anymore...

Fic: Stars are only visible in Darkness (x-men, Erik Lehnsherr/Charles Xavier, M)
Title: Stars are only visible in Darkness

Pairing: Erik Lehnsherr/Charles Xavier

Summary: Charles allows himself to think he can have his school after the sentinel debacle on the lawn of the White House. How wrong he is. And how wrong he is to think he can truly trust anyone.

Notes: Written for the X-men Reversebang of 2014/15 (Round 3). I was lucky (beyond words) to snag Shigai's artwork and she was happy with the ideas I threw at her (even if at times I had to keep saying "I normally write fluff!")

Please go have a look at her artwork on tumblr (and while there, check out the rest of her artwork - she's so damned gifted!)

Writing projects (ongoing)
Well, as always, September is never boring ;)

Work's been as insane as always. It's September and working at a uni bookstore, well. If you've attended uni, you'll know what I mean. September is where we, jokingly, say the Hellmouth opens.

On top of it, I've been fighting with a headcold for the past week - which has left the cough from hell behind.

However, this isn't a whine-post. Far from it. I figured as I miss the online blogging I used to do, I might as well get into the habit of, well, keeping a journal again *g* (it's not a diary, shut up).

Dear diary

I've still got my ongoing writing project of a ficlet per week. Not all of them turn out equally good, but I'm writing, so I'm not complaining. I was worried when I started the project that I might end up with only those and without enough time/ideas for longer stories.

Yeah, no, that didn't happen LOL. Those of you who have been with me for years, know that I tend to join the insanity of NaNoWriMo every year in November. 50K words in 30 days. Editing happens later, trust me ;). The past few years I've used it to get fanfic done (before that, yes, I did write original for it, but none of that's online - just in the digital drawer).

This year's project? Well, let's just say that I'm re-writing WW2 history, drawing out the terror of war well into the 1950s. I'm sticking with X-men this time around again - and what started as an inspiration from a piece of fanart (and the artist was happy to hear so) has now started to grow into something that will mean 50K words will be a piece of cake to reach ;)

The last one I wrote was heavily centered around the pairing, this one will be more centered around a daring unplanned mission to stop Shaw from taking over the world and if Hitler dies in the process, I don't think anyone will complain. Thankfully I have WW2 enthusiasts in my circle of friends and I know they'll happily supply me with reasons why D-day didn't happen or failed and how the world might be a completely different place if you change a few things. I'm actually looking forward to getting started on writing it, but I've still got a little more than a month for plotting before I start writing it on November 1st.

*looks around*
Aye, been gone from here for a while, haven't I? I guess that'll be my pre-New Year's resolution then. Xmas resolution, maybe? *laughs*

I guess most of the year has just been... preventing me from using LJ and DW as much as I used to. That, and tumblr tends to eat a lot of time. Not posting, just... surfing *laughs*

So, how have you peeps been? Up to any good? Or bad? Change of fandoms?

I have to disappoint some of you, I'm still neck deep in the Xmen First Class fandom, happily working my way through writing this and that. I don't think I've had that many ideas for stories for ages. I mean, Star Trek did me good, but I never got into it the way I've gotten into the XMFC fandom. It's fun, so far *grins*

Much to my surprise, I've found that it's also the fandom to prove me wrong. I used to maybe write an AU once in a blue moon, and apart from that, stick mostly to canon one way or another. Merlin had me doing a few modern day set AUs, but I don't think I've ever been this beset by plot bunnies in a fandom that demand to be written as anything BUT canon. I mean, I love Marvel, I love the story lines and the universe(s) they've created. But maybe that's it? The fact that Marvel has everything from historical AUs to zombit AUs to baby stories that just... allows the imagination less limits.

As it is, I'll be spending my xmas on reading the secret mutant story I'll be getting on the 16th, finishing up my big bang (note to self: write your artist to check they're alive and the story hasn't killed them). Not to mention, I'm editing the one I wrote for the nano, which is a fusion between XMFC and Indiana Jones/romancing the stone type movies - so action/adventure.

Of course, I can't post a 52K story without having it beta read, so I'll be out hunting for one of those as well.

I get the feeling it's going to need more work than I can see right now and a pair of fresh eyes would definitely be helpful. I'd also like to know how the hell Tony shoehorned himself into the story. He was supposed to have a minor mention in it - not be part of roughly 25-30% of the story.

And of course I'm heading off for the land of the Scots this year as well. I'm actually leaving home earlier than expected. I'm flying out on the 23rd, but a couple of friends and I are going to go watch Shame in one of the smaller cinemas in Copenhagen on the 21st, so that's me off a couple of days early *grins*

I'm sure we'll have a grand time, even if I'm sure Shame is a hard movie to watch.

life, the universe and all that jazz
Hi guys,

How's tricks?

I'm feeling a bit more up and at 'em this week - but that's possibly because we've been working with shorter opening hours - and this of course I've been home at 4ish in the afternoon instead of 6ish in the evening. Not that it's been all that slow at work - of course with us only being three at work, no wonder we had plenty to do.

As for fannish. Don't mention it.

No, serouisly.

I'm busy planning and plotting for the reversebang (x-men) and I've managed to claim my first choice - it's pretty cracky, but it's just the way I like it (knowing myself and my occasionally mutated plot bunnies, it's not going to stay below 10K).

I also get the feeling, if I let it, I will have a LOT of world building to do *g* - not to mention I get to play with an emotionally constipated Erik (that is never not fun, seriously). It's half the fun to have him think about Charles as in "I want to keep him safe, hug him, cuddle him and shag him senseless." I mentioned the crack factor, right?

Of course, working on something means I get ideas for orther shite. Like another installment for the Mutant School AU. One where Erik screws up (it's always Erik's fault, isn't it? Well, except when it's Charles'). So I am going to, the meanie that I am, force them apart for a while. Of course I need the right mood for that one, because the other installments have been humour mixed with a touch of cracky characterization, so I can't let this one fall into the angsty pit of angst!

But that's for a later date. Now's the time to work on the reversebang!

So, I've got a 17K long story. And I got to thinking. How do you prefer your posting format (for reading) on AO3. Chaptered of non-chaptered?

I mean, I read it in one long chunk of a story even if it's chaptered (show entire work on AO3), but I use Opera to read fic and Opera will remember and load a story at the same point where I stopped reading last time. So I can see why some of you would prefer chaptered. But, I wantz to know! Please, feel free to throwi in your comments as well apart from just going ticky nuts *G*

Fannish update - follow up
I'm re-posting with a bit of edit to the last list - just to keep myself updated on the fannish stuff I so need to do.

♦ Star Trek (2009), Kirk/Spock (~ 26.000 words)
♦ NaNoWriMo 2011, XMFC modern day AU, Charles/Erik (>50.000 words)
♦ Mutant School AU pt 4 XMFC Charles/Erik modern day AU [started] (appx 5,500 words) (Has now the working title of: "Bars,Brawls and Babysitting", Summary: In which Erik needs a bloody keeper and Steve fails miserably at babysitting duty.)

♠ Mutant School AU pt 4 XMFC Charles/Erik modern day AU [started]
♠ Coffee series next part/FINISH THE BLOODY THING! XMFC Charles/Erik modern day AU [started]
♠ Have another (if tentative) look at the XMFC kinkmeme [don't even think about it!]

♣ Actually sit down and spend 10-15 minutes every evening with the sketchpad

Hey, it's an update - considering how bloody knackered I've been lately, I consider one change in the lists a major achievement LOL. Of course there's the editing phase now - which a. I hate, and b. I'm not sure the story is half as funny as it was meant to be XD

A decade!? *makes squeeky noise*
I just checked the folders of fanfic, I was curious as to when I actually did write the first fanfic and posted it. Well, the oldest one still in existence is at WWOMB - but the site was changed a couple of years back and the dates are no longer the original dates *pouts*

However, I suddenlyr realized, I NEVER delete fic files - I just move the bloody folder when I get a new computer!

So, nearly a month delayed... I can say, I posted the first fic, an Andromeda one, on November 10th, 2001

So yeah. Erm. NC17? LOL

Oh, btw, anyone up for betaing a Charles/Erik fic that I did for a santa exchange? No? Boring farts LOL (It's PG...O.o) - I've come a long way, huh? NC17 to PG *laughs hard*

I just realized, I sorta went from Andromeda over a wide range of fandoms, and am now in Star Trek... Gene Roddenberry... the man certainly has a lot to answer for fandom wise LOL

Thank you to those of you who fell for the April's fool joke - and thank you to those of you who abused me verbally afterwards XD

So, peeps. It's Sunday. Whatcha all up to?

I'm faviconXimeria at the AO3, and fandoms in the immediate queue include Torchwood, Startrek 2009, Merlin (BBC), there's already Firefly, Due South and Doctor Who up *g*

Oh, and btw? Users can now subscribe to get an email notif when a writer updates or posts a new work - and more's on the way!

To put this information on your own journal, copy and paste the following and take out the capitalized parts and put in your own information

Oh, and I've got an invite for the archive if anyone's been considering getting their stuff up there - it's easy to use (unlike the Pit), easy to search and easy to read off. Not to mention you can download the fic into various file formats to read on the go! What's not to like!?

Oh my...
you know how you read a fic and it's... sort of okay? Then you get to the sex scene and it has you in stitches because of sentences such as:

Coating his fingers, his mouth returns to kiss wetly at the edges of the quivering hole;
his cock is home, the satiny walls clenching around him,

All of the sudden, I don't feel so bad about writing crack-fic with Merlin in a dress for [info]nicci_mac...

Oh god, you've GOT to be kidding me -- and no, I'm not locking this, because this, on top of having 1. been at work on a Saturday and 2. having shite customers, apart from the last one, who was oh so very sweet this piece of feedback just made me howl with laughter. Since the person didn't give out his/her real email addy, I think it's safe to say he/she is a troll. If not? Then they deserve you guys having a laugh at their expenses as well.

from: fake-email-address@hotmail.com

I liked part 1 but I didn't read part 2 - stopped as soon as I realized Jack was in the submissive role. To me a submissive Jack is a bottom Jack and I just can not believe a Jack written in that role. I do not enjoy reading such either so I have stopped reading those stories period.

It is a matter of personal taste and not a reflection on your writing. However, as a reader I would appreciate being warned so that I do not get involved in a story only to be sorely disappointed.

That last line? FTW!

I'm not even sure I remember all that much about that story (invisible ties), it was a fb sent via Area 52, so it's a VERY old story. Ah, archived in 2004. My memory is not that good XD

I'm gonna regret this...

Nicci and I were talking about bad habits in fanfic. I offered to write a crack-fic.

This is where I'll need your help. I'll write Torchwood Jack/Ianto but I need you to find all the bad stuff you remember from any fanfic.

Example: Eyes like limpid pools

Get the idea? Yeah?

Start commenting. I can't promise when I'll have it done, but the more you feed me? The more cracky it'll be XD
